Why isn't my toddler sleeping in his bed?

My 15 mth old used to sleep through the night. He got really sick & started teething and getting fevers of 104 so he's sleep secudale started to mess up he won't sleep in his bed unless I am rocking him or standing with him in my arms and singing songs. If he falls asleep in my arms the second I try to put him in his crib he attaches to my shirt and screms. I have tried to let him cry for 5 miuntes but I can't stand the thought of him crying and he wants me to be in the room with him holding him so I have a weakness I am a first time mom and I know some people will probably think i'm crazy but I will not let my child cry it out. I am agaist it. I have also tried to sit by his crib while he is in there screaming and he won't he stands up jumps up and down and wants me to hold him and rock him. Now here is another issue he will wake up in the middle of the night crying he wants me to pick him up he isn't hungry or thirsty he just wants to come sleep in the rm with me and his father. I am tired I don't get much sleep I am in the room with him trying to put him to sleep for 1-2 hrs at times and when he does go to sleep I can't fall asleep until 2 am or so on. What should I do? I see that he doesn't have a problem sleeping in our bed I have layed in my bed with him and he falls asleep with seconds.. Please someone help me
