Do you need credit cards to have a good credit???

I am 22 years old and about to graduate from college and start a job making 60k. I have lived my entire life without a credit card. I have Visa Debt Card from my bank and 20,000 debt in educational loan's in my name. This is all I have in my name. Is it bad if I continue my life without credit cards because I just don't believe in having them. I certainly want good credit because I want to buy a home in 2 years and want favorable interest rates when I get loaned out money for cars and personal stuff later in life. I just want my credit to grow from installment loans not credit cards!! ??
